The Social Soundtrack: Part 1

Tickets & Info
Music activates the hillside in this new Summer Social music series. Curated by M Jamison and Yonci Jameson, in collaboration with Studio Arisaema, both of this summer’s Social Soundtrack evenings offer an exciting roster of performers.
In addition to being Pride Month, June is also Black Music month, a nod to the musical contributions of African Americans. Our selectors for the evening exist at this intersection, spinning both wax and digital tracks across generations and genres of Black Queer sound. Join Jam E.Z. and DJ Afro for a night of classics and cuts on the Walker hillside.
Enjoy curated snacks and libations from Cardamom, available for purchase on the hillside. Menus available upon request.
Gallery admission is free on Thursday nights, 5–9 pm. Save time and reserve your gallery admission tickets online.

Studio Arisaema, named after one of the most unique plants of the natural world, exists outside of tired tradition. Created by M Jamison and Yonci Jameson, Studio Arisaema makes space for Black artists of marginalized genders and sexualities through artist residencies, workshops, event curation, film scoring, and record production. Queering these lanes, they create a force of magic and magnetism. Sounds—some reminiscent, some strange—invite you to listen with a courageous heart, an open mind, and a potent soul.
DJ Jam E.Z., Your Favourite Gay Uncle, is a familiar face at the Walker, having participated in Sadie Barnette’s New Eagle Creek Saloon in 2024. The host of Same As It Ever Was! and Groovement on KRSM 98.9 FM, Jamez spins vinyl records exclusively. Live sets can be heard at Berlin, Zen Arcade, and other local venues.
Andre “DJ Afro” Shoals is a Black queer artist whose creative path weaves through theater, dance, design, and the pulse of nightlife. A Minnesota native, he fell in love with house music in the late ’80s when House Nation helped shape the underground house scene in Minneapolis—forever changing the Twin Cities’ music culture and sparking his lifelong passion for the beat.
