We are closed on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. On the second Sunday of every month, the galleries open to the public at 11 am (after Sensory Friendly Sunday).

*The Walker is a Blue Star Museum. Admission is free for active-duty military and their families between Armed Forces Day in May and Labor Day in September.

Located in the Lowry Hill neighborhood of Minneapolis, the Walker is accessible by bicycle, car, and public transportation.

The main entrance is located on Vineland Place, across from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. There is also an entrance located on Hennepin Avenue near Groveland Terrace, next to Idea House 3.

Parking

Paid underground parking is available on-site. Enter the ramp on Vineland Place across from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Metered on-street parking is available on the surrounding streets.

Accessible parking is available at Vineland Place Parking Ramp with a direct connection to the Walker Art Center.

 

Biking

Bike racks are located by the main entrance on Vineland Place and on the corner of Groveland Terrace and Hennepin Avenue.

 

Public Transportation

Metro Transit bus lines are 4, 25, and E Line. The closest stations to the Walker are:

• Lyndale Avenue South & Vineland Place (2 minute walk)
• Oak Grove (15th St) & Oak Grove Street (3 minute walk)
Hennepin Ave & Douglas Ave (4 minute walk)
• Nicollet Mall (5 minute walk)

What to Expect

Entrance

Our main entrance is located at Vineland Place across from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. An additional entrance is on Hennepin Avenue next to Idea House 3. For tickets and assistance, visit the Box Office in the Main Lobby.

Visiting with Kids

The Walker offers a wide range of free, family-friendly activities and programming, and the museum is free to children 18 and under. Have a look at our family resources to make the most of your visit.

Located across from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the Walker’s campus includes gallery spaces, the Walker Cinema and Bentson Mediatheque for film screenings, the McGuire Theater for performing arts programs, and the Art Lab for public programming.
