The Cookout: Joy as a Catalyst for Connection

This Juneteenth, Black wellness and connection are centered during Summer Social. Join us at the Cookout: Joy as a Catalyst for Connection for a night of movement, art-making, and music. Black practitioners Reviving Roots provide free yoga and boxing workshops, and TKO Drumline and KnockOut Dance Team performs on Vineland Place. This event honors local Black participating partners, artists, and audiences.
Activity schedule:
5–8 pm – Self-Love Letters on the hillside with Reviving Roots
5–8 pm – Design your own Jump Rope on the hillside
5–8 pm – Writing & Collage activity in the Main Lobby with Catherine Squires
5:15–6 pm – Yoga on Cardamom Roof with Marjorie Grevious
6 & 7 pm – TKO Drumline and KnockOut Dance Team performances
7:30–8:15 pm – Therapeutic Boxing with Jamal James
Enjoy libations for purchase from Cardamom and complimentary snacks from the grill.
Gallery admission is free on Thursday nights, 5–9 pm. Save time and reserve your gallery admission tickets online.
After receiving invaluable feedback from members of the Black community in the Twin Cities, the language describing this event has been updated to more clearly reflect the intentions of the event—to center local Black participating partners, artists, and audiences.
