Terrace Thursdays: Ruppersberg Review

Dead Media of South Minneapolis hosts a special pop-up record swap, featuring old-time favorites and listening stations where you can find that deep track you never knew about. Make your own prints and books with Dana LeMoine and Proof Public, groove all night to tunes by Minnesota vinyl group Hipshaker, and catch a dazzling new performance from professional sign spinners.

Locally owned and volunteer-run Dead Media Records sets up shop in the Garden Terrace Room and on the Terraces so you can purchase and peruse their rare collections of books, records, and more.

Hipshaker formed 16 years ago with Brian Engle, Greg Waletski, and George Rodriguez. Now a staple in the Minneapolis vinyl scene, Hipshaker does just that: make you want to shake your hips all night as they play rare soul, funk, and R&B on 45 rpm records from the early 1960s into early 80s.

Print your own mini Ruppersberg-inspired posters or make a book. Learn how to do all of this and more with Proof Public and book artist Dana LeMoine. Maybe try to swap your book for a new record during swap night. The world is your dead media oyster.
