Tickets & Info

Bong Joon Ho’s steampunk post-apocalypse thriller is set in the future after a climate-change experiment gone catastrophically wrong has destroyed all livable habitats. The survivors exist on Snowpiercer, a high-tech train circling the earth in perpetual motion. The remnants of humanity are divided economically—the lower-classes doomed to grim conditions in the back of the train. When the heroic rebels revolt their way to the front, they find the upper classes enjoying unbelievable luxuries at their expense. The epic dystopian sci-fi, based on a French graphic novel, is Bong’s first English language feature with a cast that includes Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer, and Tilda Swinton as well as the director’s longtime collaborators Song Kang Ho and Go Ah Sung. 2013, South Korea, DCP, 126 min.

Tickets available beginning November 12 at 11 am.

The Walker’s Dialogue and Retrospective program is made possible by generous support from Anita Kunin and the Kunin Family.

Bong Joon Ho's Darwinian Gaze

In Bong Joon Ho's films, from The Host to Parasite, "something inevitable and immutable rises out of the boggy muck," writes Scott Foundas. "It is something that has come to shake polite, conformist society from its comfortable stasis, to reap and to reckon." In advance of his February 12 Walker Dialogue with Bong, Foundas looks at the Korean director's apocalyptic visions, which he describes as "postcards from the brink, rendered with a grace that says we are all in this together, and that humanity stripped bare may be humanity at its most essential."
