Pop-Up Screening: On the Edge

Screenings
A lone polar bear walks across a barren, snow-dusted Arctic shoreline scattered with rocks. Above the horizon, large blue text reads “ON THE EDGE,” with smaller text above it saying “A WCCO ORIGINAL.” The scene feels cold, quiet, and stark, emphasizing isolation and vulnerability in a changing landscape.

This Earth Day, experience a pop-up screening that brings you to the frontlines of a warming Arctic. On the Edge follows residents of the polar bear capital of the world, Churchill, Manitoba, as they navigate life amid accelerating climate change and an uncertain future.

Filmed on location with producer Erin Hassanzadeh (WCCO) and photojournalists Tom Aviles (WCCO) and Jose Sanchez (CBS News), the documentary traces how shifting environmental conditions are reshaping daily life, as community members and scientists work to protect both a fragile ecosystem and the creatures who call Manitoba home. Executive Producers Erin Hassanzadeh, Aki Nace, and Brian Nemitz. 2025, Digital, English, 51 min.

Following the screening in the Skyline Room, join a brief Q&A with the filmmakers and Minnesota DNR Senior Climatologist Kenny Blumenfeld.

Doors open at 5:30pm, showtime at 6pm. This is a free event and seats are first come first served.
