Tickets & Info

Sculptor, mixed media and sound art producer Nicholas Galanin will deliver a short lecture on his practice and recent work. The artist’s recent installations and interventions reflect on the cultural amnesia that actively obscures collective memory and acquisition of knowledge. His practice includes numerous collaborations with visual and recording artists and he is also a member of two artist collectives: Black Constellation and Winter Count. Galanin earned his BFA at London Guildhall University and his MFA at Massey University in New Zealand. Galanin lives and works in Sitka, Alaska.

Galanin’s artist talk is copresented with the Department of Art and the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota.
