Banu Cennetoglu studied psychology in Istanbul before pursuing photography in Paris and New York. Her most recent project, The List, documents the names of more than 7,000 refugees who died within or on the borders of Europe. In this and other works, she explores sociopolitical themes but also experiments with artistic form. In this talk, she discusses her artistic career, including BAS, an artist-run space she founded in Istanbul that collects and produces artist’s books.

Ether Reveries (Suite for Thérèse Rivière no.2) takes as its starting point the work and life of Rivière (1901–1970), a French anthropologist whose remarkable working life was cut short following her confinement in psychiatric institutions.
