Art Club: Music Sampling, Night 2
Tickets & Info
This winter, Art Club is warming up with new workshops and a bar. Each week offers a standing invitation to explore and create across our campus. Stop by the Art Lab for drop-in artmaking with Walker educators. Every week is a chance to experiment with a new medium, idea, or muse. A cash bar is available in the lobby so you can sip while you create.
Dip your toes into experimenting with sound through interactive music-sampling workshops. This is the second night of a three-part series. Each week is a continuation of learning and interacting with simple techniques for loop pedal sampling.
Night 2 introduces the loop pedal and capturing bits and pieces of sound with music sampling software. We encourage visitors to bring their own small acoustic instruments. Night 1 participants are welcome to bring their DIY noisemakers back to record samples on the loop pedal.
Activity instructions, available in English and Spanish, are designed for ages 4 and up. Materials are provided and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis; supplies are limited. No prior registration is required for Art Club: the more you visit, the more you’ll discover.
Stop in on Thursday nights for Open Stacks and explore books, journals, and artist files with help from expert librarians. Discover a new book, research your favorite artist, or just peruse the vast collection. Located directly behind the Art Lab, the Walker’s library is open from 5 to 8 pm (no appointment necessary). The Bentson Mediatheque is always free, streaming select films and movies from the Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection. Choose your own adventure with our interactive menu, or sit back and enjoy a curated playlist of films.
