Living Collections Catalogue

The Living Collections Catalogue is an on-going serial publication that presents unique documents, original interpretation, and rich media resources about select artworks from Walker Collections.

In 2009, the Getty Foundation invited the Walker Art Center and eight other museums to participate in an initiative to create new models for the future of scholarly collection catalogues. The Living Collections Catalogue (LCC) is an online serial publication that features new scholarship for newly digitized Walker Collections materials that have largely been unpublished and previously accessible only via onsite visits. Each volume offers media-rich essays on broader themes, as well as in-depth investigations of specific works of art. Implicit in the concept of a “living catalogue” is the dynamic and hybrid reading platform each volume offers, at the intersection of a collections database, printed catalogue, and digital reading environment.
