Walker Art Center's August Free First Saturday--Inspired By Me!--Features Day of Family Activities Inspired by New Exhibition Chuck Close: Self-Portraits 1967-2005

The Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event from 10 am-5 pm Saturday, August 6, draws inspiration from the exhibition Chuck Close: Self-Portraits 1967–2005 with a full day of related activities for families. Youth can make a self-portrait on a professional press with artists from Highpoint Center for Printmaking in the Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab and have their portrait taken by photographer Quito Ziegler at her giant truck displaying Minnesota Family Project. Teens from the Youth Performance Company will turn their stories into performance in The “I” Project, and families can catch a screening of La Petite Vendeuse de Soleil (The Little Girl Who Sold the Sun) by Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambéty.

Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. In case of rain, outdoor events will be canceled, not rescheduled.
