The annual British Arrows Awards serves up the latest and greatest in UK moving-image advertising. Bridging Minnesota and the UK, this year’s screening features Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards in his newest kicks and Matthew Macfadyen as a holiday party detective. This popular series, the Walker’s most highly attended yearly event, has become a winter tradition for many visitors and usually sells out quickly.

Experimenting with both form and content, the show encompasses mini-documentaries, sci-fi spoofs, animation, and more. Tapping into quiet nostalgia and raucous humor alike, the annual year-end tradition offers a compendium of stories that are as surprising as they are human. British Arrows Board Chair Simon Cooper comments:

“As we approach the 50th anniversary of the British Arrows, it’s a real privilege to see this year’s winners celebrated once again at the amazing Walker Art Center — a partnership that has endured for nearly four decades. The Walker’s audiences have long embraced the extraordinary creativity of British advertising, and it’s deeply heartening to know that the craft, humor, and humanity at the heart of our work continue to resonate so strongly. Sadly for me, this marks my final year as Chair, but I can’t think of a better way to end than sharing the very best of British creativity with such an appreciative and engaged Minnesota audience. It promises to be, as always, a brilliantly entertaining evening.”

This year’s screenings continue the Walker and the British Arrows’ enduring collaboration, offering audiences a chance to experience the year’s most inventive and entertaining works in advertising.

ABOUT THE BRITISH ARROWS
The British Arrows is a nonprofit organization started by the creative industry for the creative industry, and every year it celebrates the best in moving image advertising in one of the oldest awards shows in the United Kingdom. The Walker Art Center’s involvement with the British Arrows started in 1986. After a screening of the British Arrows award-winning ad reels at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Walker’s curator at the time wanted to bring the show to Minneapolis. The involvement between the two organizations became a long-standing collaboration, which continues to run proudly today.
