Wall-to-Wall Walker: Day-into-Night Celebration of All Things Walker on Saturday, December 3
Minneapolis, November 11, 2011— It’s time for the Walker’s annual open house extravaganza, Wall–to–Wall Walker, Saturday, December 3, 10 am–8 pm. The celebration starts out with family programming throughout the building as part of Free First Saturday, 10 am–3 pm. The day also features member discount shopping, cooking demonstrations with Gather by D’Amico Executive Chef Josh Brown, and British snacks and libations in Gather and the Walker Pub.
Gallery admission is free during Wall-to-Wall Walker for all current exhibitions including the recently opened Graphic Design: Now in Production and Dance Works I: Merce Cunningham/Robert Rauschenberg shows. The day turns to eve with screenings of the British Arrows Awards (formerly the British Television Advertising Awards). Advance ticket purchase recommended.
During Wall–to–Wall Walker, visitors can experience every aspect of the building—from galleries and restaurants, to the Walker Cinema, the McGuire Theater, and the Walker Shop. A custom scavenger hunt has been created to aid tours. Those familiar with the Walker and first time visitors will both enjoy this ultimate sampling of one of the Twin Cities cultural gems.

Families can enjoy live performances, films, gallery adventures, and hands-on art-making from 10 am–3 pm. Activities recommended for ages 6–12.
Wall–to–Wall Walker

Visual art, film, and performance mix, mingle, and mesh through activities in every gallery. Watch a vintage film from the collection about Red Grooms’ famous Target Store installation and take part in a specially designed scavenger hunt. Experience the William and Nadine McGuire Theater as a studio space, and make your own work of art in the Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab.
Cooking for Kids Demonstration with Chef Josh Brown
11:30 am–12:30 pm, Cargill Lounge
Gather’s Executive Chef Josh Brown demonstrates his spin on the oooey, gooey, melty lusciousness of an American classic, the grilled cheese sandwich. Have a sample and then head up to Gather by D’Amico for the real thing.

An exploration of the rich collaboration between these two legendary artists, this exhibition features stage attire, scenery, backdrops, and other décor designed by Rauschenberg as well as other works by the artist from the Walker’s collection.

Recognizing that advertising venues in the United Kingdom have radically expanded beyond the telly in this age of social networking, the British Television Advertising Awards has reinvented itself as the British Arrows Awards. The program continues to feature the best of the UK’s advertising ingenuity, selected by top ad executives and producers from across the globe. This year’s winners cross the finish line with the strikingly clever, funny, and poignant spots for which the series is known. Screenings sell out quickly.
