Winter’s Bone

. In the heart of the Missouri Ozarks, a teenage girl embarks on a quest to find her meth-making father and save her home and family. “The spare precision of Granik’s direction is effortlessly profound. Driven by a fascination with people’s daunting conflicts, writer/director Debra Granik weaves together stories of those who are on the precipice. Granik’s first film, Down to the Bone, garnered Sundance’s Dramatic Directing Award and the Special Jury Prize for Vera Farmiga’s performance. The film premiered in Minneapolis at the Walker’s 2005 Women with Vision film festival. The Walker is pleased to bring Granik to the Walker for the area premiere of Winter’s Bone, her second film, for which she won Sundance’s Grand Jury Prize and Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. The film also received awards from the Berlin Film Festival and won Best Feature Film at the Palm Beach Film Festival.
