Walker Art Center to Offer Extended Hours on Thursday and Friday Evenings

The Walker Art Center opens its expanded facility and the Twin Cities’ newest cultural icon on Sunday, April 17. Following a Grand-opening Celebration from 9 am-9 pm, the Walker’s new hours of operation will be:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday: 11 am-5 pm
Thursday and Friday: 11 am-9 pm
Closed Mondays

Target Free Thursday Nights

Sponsored by Target, the Walker’s galleries are free from 5-9 pm every Thursday evening and are complemented by a range of other Walker programs. Explore an exhibition, watch a film, make art, and ask questions about art at these evenings made possible by Target. At the launch event for Target Free Thursday Nights, from 5-9 pm Thursday, April 28, enjoy an artist talk by Ed Templeton, DJ beats by Tariq Moody, a Drop-In Art Activity to create mail art inspired by the architecture of Herzog & de Meuron, and Artist-in-Residence Ericka Beckman’s double-screen projection Frame UP.

Open Late on Fridays

All galleries are open until 9 pm every Friday evening.

Free First Saturdays

On the first Saturday of each month, the Walker presents Free First Saturday, a fun-filled day of free films, performances, and art activities for younger visitors and families. Free First Saturdays begin May 7. Media sponsorship for Free First Saturdays is provided by WCCO-TV.

Closed Mondays

Galleries are closed Mondays except for the major public holidays Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day (open 11 am-5 pm).
