Walker Art Center Public Tours in July Highlight Picasso and American Art and Other Ongoing Exhibitions

July tours at the Walker Art Center offer a chance to get an up-close look at current exhibitions on view, including Picasso and American Art (through September 9), a groundbreaking exhibition organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art that juxtaposes Picasso’s art with that of luminaries such as Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Max Weber, Louise Bourgeois, and Jasper Johns; Paper Trail: A Decade of Acquisitions (through September 23), which addresses the means by which artists today are exploring notions of time, place, and narrative through the intimacy of paper; Body Politics: Figurative Prints and Drawings from Schiele to de Kooning (through July 15), featuring works from public and private collections that explore the expressive potential of the human figure in images taken from the first half of the 20th century. Also scheduled are tours of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the Walker building, and ongoing collection exhibitions. On Saturday, July 7, as part of the Walker’s Free First Saturday, patrons can take part in a tour of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to learn about large-scale and miniature works of art on view. Also offered in July are Spotlight Gallery Talks led by Walker curators and tour guides highlighting selected artworks or artists in the galleries.

Gallery admission is $10 adults; $8 seniors (65+), $6 student/teen (with ID) and free to Walker members and children 12 and under. Admission is free with a ticket to a same-day Walker event, $4 with a ticket stub up to six days after an event. Gallery admission is free to all every Thursday evening from 5–9 pm and on the first Saturday of each month.
