Walker Art Center Offers Free Gallery Admission to Grandparents and Seniors on National Grandparents Day

On Sunday, September 13, National Grandparents Day, the Walker Art Center offers free gallery admission to grandparents and seniors from 11 am–5 pm. In addition to ongoing collection exhibitions, visitors can sample special shows, including Robert Irwin: Slant/Light/Volume, an installation featuring an elusive, ethereal, and powerful piece incorporating an oblique plane of translucent scrim fabric, as well as Dirt on Delight: Impulses That Form Clay, a lively presentation revealing the rich history of clay. The Quick and the Dead, in its final weeks, expands beyond the main galleries to include works in the Walker’s public spaces and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. A tour of the Garden takes place at 2 pm.

Lunch is served from 11 am-2 pm in Gallery 8 Café, and from 11:30 am–2 pm in 20.21 Restaurant & Bar by Wolfgang Puck. The Walker Shop is open from 11 am–6 pm.
