David Krakauer
and his five-member group
Klezmer Madness!
reinvent traditional Eastern European urban Jewish music with their special brew of jazz, electronic, avant-garde, classical, and funk in a concert presented by the Walker Art Center and Northrop Jazz Season at 8 pm Saturday, February 28, at the Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 Fourth Street South, Minneapolis. While firmly rooted in classic folk tunes, the band “hurls the tradition of klezmer music into the rock era” (The New York Times). A standout on John Zorn’s Tzadik label, Krakauer also performed as soloist for Eiko & Koma’s Offering at Out There 2003. Musicians include Art Bailey, accordion; Sheryl Bailey, electric guitar; Nicki Parrott, bass; and Michael Sarin, drums.
