Walker Art Center and mnartists.org's New Artist Pass Program Provides Access and Benefits for Local Artists
The Walker Art Center and mnartists.org announce the launch of a new
Artist Pass
program to provide access, affordability, and benefits to local artists. Active mnartists.org members of all disciplines are eligible to apply for a $20 annual pass, which includes unlimited free admission to the Walker galleries, discounts on select mnartists.org and Walker events, and a subscription to the mnartists.org access+ENGAGE e-newsletter. Artist Pass holders gain affordable access to the wealth of resources available at the Walker and on mnartists.org.
In the nine years since it launched, mnartists.org has become a thriving indicator of the vitality of the arts in Minnesota, and of the Walker’s longstanding commitment to visual artists, musicians, dancers, actors, filmmakers, architects, and designers. The Artist Pass enables this online community to more easily convene at the Walker, a model 21st-century contemporary art center that brings artists, audiences, and art together.
Local artists are not only an important audience at the Walker, they also participate, volunteer, and present work through dozens of programs each year, as part of the collection, and through education and outreach efforts for a variety of communities. “Throughout its history as a contemporary arts center, the Walker has taken an artist-centered approach to its programming and collecting philosophies,” said Walker director Olga Viso. “Local and visiting artists are greatly influential in all of our disciplines. We are happy to offer the Artist Pass program to the many artists that continue to make the Walker an essential resource in our community.”

mnartists.org is a free online arts hub with programs and daily-updated news and information for Minnesota’s artists and arts lovers. This unique Web site, which is an online nexus for the artist community, hosts an extensive database of informational resources, original arts journalism, and artwork from more than 17,000 artists and arts organizations around the state. mnartists.org was developed as the result of a survey of Minnesota artists conducted by The McKnight Foundation, which revealed the survival struggles of individual artists. The McKnight Foundation partnered with the Walker Art Center’s New Media Initiatives group to develop mnartists.org.
