Walker Art Center and 89.3 The Current Announce Rock the Garden 2011 with My Morning Jacket, Neko Case, Booker T. Jones, and Tapes 'n Tapes on Saturday, June 18
The Garden will be rocked! The Walker Art Center and 89.3 The Current, from Minnesota Public Radio, team up to present Rock the Garden 2011. This year’s line-up will play to crowds spread out along the Walker’s grassy hillside “amphitheater” overlooking the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden on Saturday, June 18, from 3-10:30 pm.
Rock the Garden 2011 is THE backyard party this summer and we’ve invited some special friends to handle the music… local indie kings Tapes `n Tapes kick start the shindig in the afternoon sun with their smart and propulsive pop. Next up the legend, the icon – Booker T. Jones fires up his Hammond B-3 organ for a straight shot of timeless soul groove. Chanteuse Neko Case (and her killer band) then joins the party with her mesmerizing voice and heady alt/indie rock. Headlining honor goes to expansive southern space rockers My Morning Jacket beloved for their riffy pop, smoldering rock, and list-topping live shows.
