Bullock and producer/director Melissa Butts (Thursday, June 11); and a screening of You, the Living, part of the series On the Verge (of the End): Roy Andersson (Thursday, June 25).

McKnight Media Artists Fellows Rolf Belgum, D. A. Bullock, and Melissa Butts – a filmmaker, screenwriter/director, and producer/director – track their accomplishments from film festivals to Mars. Co-presented by IFP Minnesota and MN Artists.
The purpose of the McKnight Fellowships for Media Arts program is the support excellence in the media arts for mid-career artist in Minnesota. Three $25,000 fellowships were awarded in 2014. Eligible applicants included independent producers, directors, writers, and developers in film, television, radio, web, computer/video games, transmedia, and other emerging forms of media.

You, the Living hilariously explores man’s existence, behavior, thoughts worries, happiness, sorrow, and a profound longing for validation and love in 50 interconnected shorts inspired by Goethe’s poetry series Roman Elegies. Throughout the film, dream sequences and music (both as background and performed on camera) are used to reflect the woes and desire of the characters. Andersson’s flawless and creative shots create sympathy with his characters yet draw amusement from the fact that each things his or her suffering is unique. 2007, DCP, in Swedish with English Subtitles, 95 minutes.
