Target Free Thursday Nights in December

Minneapolis, November 21, 2014—The Walker Art Center’s Target Free Thursday Nights in December feature a Gather by D’Amico Chef-in-Residence event with Josh Brown of Gather by D’Amico (Thursday, December 4); Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art performances by Pope.L (Thursday, December 4) and Trenton Doyle Hancock (Thursday, December 11); and Fluxus Club (Thursday, December 4).

Target Free Thursday Nights

Gather by D’Amico, 5–9 pm

Top talents from Twin Cities restaurants create limited-edition small plates exclusively for this ongoing series—meet them on the first Thursday of every month for a tasting.
In December, Gather executive chef Josh Brown shares tastes from his British-themed menu, which complements the British Arrows Awards screenings throughout the month.

Fluxus Club

Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab, 6-8 pm

Get inspired by Fluxus artworks in the exhibition Art Expanded, 1958–1978 before transforming the Art Lab into a Flux Production Shop and installation with the help of artist Margaret Pezalla-Granlund.

Radical Presence Performance: Pope.L’s Costume Made of Nothing

Target and Friedman Galleries 6:30 pm

Visit the exhibition Radical Presence for a performance of Pope.L’s Costume Made of Nothing, a durational work in which a local performer interacts with a unique sculpture in the gallery. The interdisciplinary artist is known for his provocative performance works steeped in dark humor.

Radical Presence Performance: Trenton Doyle Hancock

Target and Friedman Galleries, 7 pm

In Devotion (2013), Trenton Doyle Hancock brings to life a mythical creature called the Mound—alternating between hymnal singing and Jell-O feedings in this performance that asks viewers to consider what it means to be devoted to an idea or vision.
