Public Tours at the Walker Art Center in February Highlight Current Exhibitions on View
February tours at the Walker Art Center offer a chance to explore the latest exhibitions, including Body Politics: Figurative Prints and Drawings from Schiele to de Kooning (through July 15), featuring works from public and private collections which show the human form in images taken from the first half of the 20th century, and Eva Hesse Drawing (through February 18), featuring 150 works by one of the most influential artists of the postwar era. On Saturday, February 3, as part of the Walker’s Free First Saturday, patrons can learn more about Dolphin Oracle II from Minneapolis-based artist and Dolphin co-creator Piotr Szyhalski. Also offered in February are tours of the Walker’s ongoing exhibitions and Spotlight Gallery Talks led by Walker curators and tour guides highlighting selected artworks or artists in the galleries.
Also, Kara Walker: My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love opens on February 17, featuring work by one of the most complex and prolific American artists of her generation. The exhibition is Walker’s first full-scale American museum survey, and it features her artwork in all its diversity, from her signature cut-paper silhouettes to film animations to works on paper.
Gallery admission is $8 adults; $6 seniors (65+), $5 student/teen (with ID), and free to Walker members and children 12 and under. Admission is free with a ticket to a same-day Walker event, $4 with a ticket stub up to six days after an event. Gallery admission is free to all every Thursday evening from 5–9 pm and on the first Saturday of each month.
