Public Tours at the Walker Art Center in April Highlight New Trisha Brown Exhibition
April tours at the Walker Art Center offer a chance to see the latest exhibition Trisha Brown: So That the Audience Does Not Know Whether I Have Stopped Dancing (opening April 18), providing an in-depth look at the visual arts practice of an artist recognized primarily for her work in dance and opera. This exhibition features a survey of Brown’s drawings, a live early performance work in the gallery, a large improvisational drawing to be performed by Brown at the exhibition preview, and videos of seminal early performances. Tours are also offered for Richard Prince: Spiritual America, a critical overview of the celebrated American artist’s work, organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; Worlds Away: New Suburban Landscapes, featuring the work of 34 artists and architects who explore a variety of suburban conditions that challenge preconceived ideas and expectations about the contemporary American suburb; Present Tense: Photographs by JoAnn Verburg (closing April 20), featuring some 60 works surveying the artist’s 30-year career; and of the Walker building and ongoing collection exhibitions. Also offered in April are Spotlight Gallery Talks led by Walker curators and tour guides highlighting selected artworks or artists in the galleries.
Gallery admission is $10 adults; $8 seniors (65+), $6 students/teens (with ID) and free to Walker members and children 12 and under. Admission is free with a ticket to a same-day Walker event, $4 with a ticket stub up to six days after an event. Gallery admission is free to all every Thursday evening from 5–9 pm and on the first Saturday of each month.
