Metro Transit Adds Walker Art Center to Downtown Zone

From May 29 through September 4, the Walker Art Center will become part of Metro Transit’s “downtown zone.” Passengers pay just $.50 a ride during off-peak hours within this zone, making it easier to drop by the Walker for lunch, explore the galleries after work, or attend Summer Music & Movies. If ridership is high during this test period, Metro Transit may make the Walker a permanent part of the downtown zone. During this period only, bus lines serving Hennepin (routes 4, 6, and 12) and Nicollet avenues (11, 17, 18, and 25) are expanded—the Hennepin downtown zone ends at Groveland Terrace; the Nicollet zone ends at 16th Street South.
