Just Press Play for a Day of Fun at the Walker Art Center's March Free First Saturday
The moving image takes center stage at Press Play, the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event from 10 am–5 pm Saturday, March 4. Featured events include Girls in the Director’s Chair, a series of films by Minnesota girls age 8–18, part of this year’s Women with Vision festival; a performance by Portland-based artist Vladimir using Viewmasters to tell short stories; an art lab activity making film-related projects; a reading of Lenore Blegvad’s book Anna Banana and Me; and a gallery crawl of works by women artists throughout the Walker’s collection.
Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Big Screen: Girls in the Director’s Chair

Part of the annual Women with Vision film festival, this showcase of works created by Minnesota girls ages 8–18 ranges from animation and documentaries to claymation and social commentary.

Listen to the tale of feisty little Anna Banana and the shy, timid boy she plays with. One day, when he’s most scared, he uses a little bit of her magic and finds his own courageous spirit.
