It's Time to Shake a Leg at Let's Move!, the Walker Art Center's September Free First Saturday
There’s no time to stand still at Let’s Move!, the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event from 10 am–4 pm Saturday, September 2. Featured events include live performances by the Afro-Brazilian Capoeira Association; art-making activities to create mobiles and speed paintings; a Garden crawl; a performance by athlete/artist JAO in her Artmobile; and a series of garden games.
Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event of rain, outdoor events will be canceled or moved indoors, not rescheduled.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
Flex your artistic muscles for a day filled with blasts of creative energy, fantastically fun garden games, and moving sculptures.
Garden Crawl: Kinetic Energy, 10 am–2 pm
Search for sculptures in the Garden that can fly, swing, jump, and swim.
Art-Making for the Entire Family: Make a Mobile, 10 am–3 pm
String together an assortment of colorful shapes and materials to make a mobile that you can hang in your room.
Art-Making for the Entire Family: Speed Painting with JAO, 11 am–4 pm
The timer’s ticking! Challenge yourself to make a masterpiece in less than a minute. Step up to the easel with artist/athlete JAO, who shows kids how to make paintings that engage the entire body.
Performances: JAO Artmobile, 11 am, 2 and 3 pm
Art and sports team up when painter JAO produces large-scale artworks in only five minutes from the back of her Artmobile truck.
Performance: Capoeira, 1 and 3 pm
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art form that combines self-defense with music, dance, poetry, and folklore. Learn about its history, movements, sounds, and stories during these live performances by the Afro-Brazilian Capoeira Association.
Garden Games, 2–4 pm
Families finish strong in a series of fun garden games that include Spoon and Cherry race, spider walk, and the three-legged race.
