Get a Move On to the Walker Art Center's Free First Saturday in October
A day of family fun is stirring at Move Your World, the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event from 10 am–3 pm Saturday, October 6. Featured events include a performance by Pachamama Band, who combine Latin American music traditions to create a unique sound; a Family Forum on art and activism for kids hosted by Solutions Twin Cities’ Troy Gallas and Colin Kloecker; a screening of Christine Spindler’s Sirah, a thought-provoking film about choices; a story reading of Ian Whybrow’s Wish, Change, Friend; art lab activities to make a project inspired by the Family Forum and a relief print that will become part of a community mural that will be sent with donations to help children in New Orleans affected by Hurricane Katrina; and a gallery crawl in the Brave New Worlds galleries.
Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 am–3 pm. Gallery admission is free from 10 am–5 pm on Free First Saturday.

Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab
Make a relief print of your very own and then contribute one to the community mural—along with donations of toys and art supplies, it will be sent to children in New Orleans displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Drop off your donations in the Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab.
Performance: Pachamama Band, 11 am and 1 pm

The Pachamama Band combines harmonies, rhythms, and instruments from different Latin American musical traditions—from Chilean cueca to Afro-Cuban son to Peruvian huayno—to create its own unique sound.
Family Forum: Solutions Twin Cities presents Art and Activism for Kids, 12 noon–1 pm

Troy Gallas and Colin Kloecker, designers and co-creators of Solutions Twin Cities, are catalysts for change-planning events that bring people together to discuss ideas for improving the world. Come share your view at this family-friendly presentation.
