Minneapolis, January 31, 2017— Esker Grove, Chef Doug Flicker’s new restaurant at the Walker Art Center, will begin weekend brunch service on Saturday, February 4. Brunch will be offered weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, 10am–3pm.
A contemporary and casual restaurant, Esker Grove’s brunch menu features Chef Flicker’s innovative take on brunch favorites such as
quiche with comté, leeks, garlic, and petite greens; steak & eggs featuring sirloin, soft scrambled eggs, marrow toast, and spicy fermented broccoli;
French toast with pistachio, country ham, mascarpone, and sage; and
croque madame with speck, raclette, apple, egg, and béchamel. Sweet offerings include curry and caramel doughnut holes, coffee cake, and granola with nuts and seeds, salty banana custard, and bourbon barrel aged maple syrup.
Mixologist Jon Olson has crafted a brunch cocktail menu featuring contemporary twists on classic brunch drinks including an Esker Bloody with roasted tomato, savory spices, Letherbee gin, cheese bricks, and cocktail weenies; a Verde Bloody made with tomatillo, wheatgrass, cucumber, savory spices, Linie aquavit, and crispy vegetables; and Café Esker featuring Spyhouse & chicory coffee blend, Old Overholt rye whiskey, demerara sugar, and whipped cream. The cocktail menu also features a few new drinks that are destined to be day-drinking favorites such as Death in the Afternoon made with lemon, sparkling wine, Copper & Kings absinthe, and Curious George with banana, tonic, and Hamilton 151 demerara rum.
Flicker’s team at Esker Grove includes key talents from the Twin Cities restaurant industry; Mixologist Jon Olson, Chef de Cuisine T.J. Rawitzer, and General Manager Kim Tong.
