2004 British Television Advertising Awards
Now celebrating its 28th year in existence, the
2004 British Television Advertising Awards
returns for another rousing year from December 3-30, with Walker Art Center-presented screenings at the Theatre at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis. Awards Administrator Peter Bigg will be on hand to introduce the opening-night screenings on Friday, December 3, at 7 and 9:30 pm. Remaining programs during the month include evening and matinee screenings.
Nearly 10,000 people attended last year’s sold-out screenings of the British Television Advertising Awards. This year’s winners are even more innovative, racy, and side-splitting. U.S. celebrities Spike Lee, Carrie Fisher, and Roy Scheider promote mobile-phone company Orange, while David Beckham pitches Adidas. Trojan Condoms takes a Gold Award for an explicit viral campaign that was spread by e-mail users. Honda Accord’s entry—inspired by Rube Goldberg and Fischli and Weiss’ The Way Things Go—wins Best Commercial of the Year and is sure to delight.
Tickets for the Brits screenings are $8 ($6 Walker members) and can be purchased by calling the Walker box office at 612.375.7622 or online at www.walkerart.org/tickets/.
