The Walker’s collections reflects our multidisciplinary mission and the increasingly interdisciplinary practice of artists. With nearly 16,000 works by almost 2,500 artists from around the world, it features a diverse range of artistic output, including painting, sculpture, films, performances, books, artist archives, and more.
The Walker Art Center Collections is comprised of six subcollections:

The Library & Archives collection features more than 40,000 books, exhibition catalogues, journals, and artist clipping files, as well as the Rosemary Furtak Collection of 1,650 artist books.

The Performing Arts Commissions documents the history of over 270 new performances commissioned by the Performing Arts department for the Walker’s stage, galleries, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, building corridors, and sites across the Twin Cities.

Established in 1973, the Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection features more than 1,000 titles, including 16mm and 35mm films, video and digital artworks, and moving image commissions.

Formed in 1998, the Digital Arts Study Collection collects and preserves digital artworks. It includes holdings of 56 works that are generally interactive and intended to be displayed on or by means of the Internet and/or digital network systems and computing devices.
