Art Reminds Us: We Are Implicated in Each Other’s Lives

"It’s not the same to look at the facade of a house as to be invited into it," writes Jackie Amézquita. Her own story, as an immigrant from Guatemala who crossed the border illegally in 2003, was echoed in a recent project, in which she walked 178 miles from the Mexico border to downtown LA, ritually embodying the journey of immigrants today.
