How did you first become involved with the Walker?

Brad

I have been involved with the Walker for a long, long, time. It’s truly been a lifelong relationship. When I was growing up, my parents took us to the Walker for classes and shows. As our children were growing up, we took them to the Walker for classes and shows.

What do you enjoy most about the Walker?

Sandy

The Walker excels at creating a collage of aesthetic delights, which opens me up to think more creatively and critically about myself, our communities, and how art truly can shift culture. One of my favorite experiences was the Abundant Cities series exploring civic life and the intersection of art, culture, and climate.

Do you have a favorite Walker memory?

More recently, we have been having picnic dinners in the sculpture garden. There’s something magical about eating dinner surrounded by those sculptures as the light changes. It perfectly captures what we love about the Walker—art integrated into life, not separate from it.

How have the arts impacted your life?

Brad and Sandy

The arts have helped us stay curious and connected to the world. They’ve taught us to look more carefully, listen more deeply, and remain open to different perspectives. Through the Walker, we’ve experienced art that has challenged our assumptions, music that has moved us in unexpected ways, and exhibitions that have sparked conversations.
