Lucy Walker Dialogue with Scott Foundas

Back to Reader

“I took a while, I think, to figure out what I wanted to say in the world. I feel I took very seriously the responsibility of saying anything and of gathering enough craft to say it well.” —Lucy Walker

Award-winning filmmaker and VR director Lucy Walker joins Amazon Studios film acquisitions and development executive Scott Foundas for a conversation about her fascinating career and the art of documentary filmmaking. A master of her craft, Walker captures sublime turning points in people’s lives when they must push past impossibility and “dare to be honest,” conjuring that most human need to connect. Her works in the retrospective included Waste Land (2010), Countdown to Zero (2010), The Crash Reel (2013), and an evening of her short documentary films. During their conversation, Lucy shares her experience breaking into the world of documentary and VR filmmaking, her previous career as a DJ, and her approach to storytelling.
