Legacy Circle members Nor Hall and Roger Hale have both dedicated many years and countless hours to supporting the Walker’s mission. While their interest may vary from time to time, they remain steadfast in their support of the art and ideas of our time.

Roger remembers first visiting the Walker galleries with his mother during Saturday morning programs for kids. Later, when he completed his military service and moved back to Minnesota, he began frequenting the Walker again. “I found it stimulating and still do, even to this day,” says Roger. Now an Honorary Trustee of the Walker, he has served two terms as Board President and spearheaded many important and successful fundraising campaigns. Though the artists and works have changed over the years, Roger appreciates the Walker’s commitment to platforming the most important, often boundary-pushing, artists working today.

Sharing a special moment, Nor describes how she first encountered Walker collaborating artists while attending college. “I was knocked out by meeting Merce Cunningham and John Cage at Beloit College in the 1960s when, it turned out, they were on their way to perform the same piece at the Walker,” she says. “I didn’t move here until 1971, but the Walker became my inspirational home almost immediately.”

Nor moved to the Twin Cities for the community scene and found that her creative life and work often crossed paths with the Walker. She became a very active advocate of Walker performing arts and served more than six years as a co-chair of the Producer’s Council, a group committed to providing philanthropic leadership in support of the Walker’s performing arts programming.

Early in Nor and Roger’s relationship, the Walker became an exciting meeting ground for them. They have formed close friendships with many other active Walker supporters over the years and still find it satisfying to support and fundraise for the Walker. “If you are interested in being part of a life-changing cultural organization for people of all ages and backgrounds, you couldn’t do better,” says Nor.

Nor and Roger care deeply about making sure young people are able to experience the magic of this institution. Their planned gift will allow the Walker to continue to flourish artistically and support our innovative, multidisciplinary programming for many years to come.
